Dr Matthew Accatino (né Balcerek)

Dr Matthew Accatino (né Balcerek) is a Consultant Endocrinologist who is passionate about providing inclusive, caring, evidence-based health care.

Matthew graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2009 and Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of Surgery in 2013. He completed his Endocrinology training in South east Queensland and undertook a two-year Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) at the completion of his training. He recently completed a Master of Medicine in Metabolic Health through the University of Sydney and is also a Senior Lecturer with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Queensland.

He currently works in the Adult Gender Service at RBWH and is very experienced in providing gender-affirming health care. He is a Staff Specialist Endocrinologist in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at RBWH, and also practices at The Wesley Hospital.

Matthew welcomes referrals in all aspects of Diabetes and Endocrinology, with a special interest in gender-affirming health care, diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP), a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, US Endocrine Society, Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society, as well as the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health.

Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family, including his husband, his beloved King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, and his newborn daughter.
