Dr Rhys Young

Dr Rhys is a Specialist General Practitioner practising in Brisbane. He describes his approach to medicine as non-judgemental, down-to-earth and evidence-based.

Dr Rhys has a specialist interest in sexual health and LGBTQ+ health, including gay men’s health and gender affirmation. He is a trained S100 prescriber and offers comprehensive HIV care, including HIV testing, HIV treatment, and HIV prevention with PrEP.

Dr Rhys practices an informed consent model when providing care to trans and gender-diverse people. He hopes to create a safe and welcoming environment for transgender and non-binary people to access healthcare.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr Rhys enjoys his work as a Medical Educator for medical students and doctors training to be GPs. He also writes a monthly queer-focused health article as Doc Q for QNews Magazine. When not working, Dr Rhys describes himself as an amateur Crossfitter, serial TV binger and proud parent of his tiny Toy Cavoodle, Beemo.
